COMMENTS FROM
CHARTERERS:
Hi Evan,
Thanks so much for everything...we all had an incredible
time on the SV Perehelion!
(I’ve go hundreds of these, but it embarrasses me to
put them all in. What can I say? So here is a short story written for a group
this last weekend (Aug 14th 2010))

14th August 2010
*********** abandons all hope!

Passenger plead for help off Jericho Beech
It was an extraordinarily clear
and sunny day and aboard the sailing vessel Perihelion but conditions had been
appalling as the 6.68 mile voyage finally came to an end off Jericho Beach
in Kitsalano, Vancouver,
British Columbia. The passengers
(apparently known as “********* Crew”) had been reduced to eating oysters as a
last resort as food and water ran out. Beer and some wine was all that was left
for the passengers as dehydration took an almost fatal hold.
Customs and Immigration had been
called but as of going to press had failed to show up and it was reported that
people were seen to be jumping over the side and swimming for the beech.

Their voyage started from the
little known dock at the Vancouver Rowing Club in Stanley Park
some 60 minutes earlier where so many refugees had also started their voyages.
The authorities have informed this reporter that everything is being done to
curb the traffic that seems to be growing at an alarming rate. Talking to some
local sources it seems that this is not an uncommon occurrence, so one wonders
what exactly the authorities are doing.
Off the beech at Kitsalano both sunbathers and boaters had reported seeing a
vessel with some people aboard who seemed to be having too much fun, although
this has been put down to delirium.

One passenger seen here was so thin that his pants would barley stay
up.

Huddled together in the water for warmth, the passers seen here are
clearly delirious.
I caught up with captain Evan Seys of the Perihelion who denies any knowledge
of starvation or lack of supplies saying that the passengers had brought their
own food and “if they ran out of water it was not my fault”. He denies that
anyone swam ashore and in fact denies that there was any suffering whatsoever.
He even told me that the passengers had left of their own free will and had
even left a bottle of wine for him as a token of their gratitude for delivering
them safely to our lovely shores. Captain Seys said that yes, the trip was
arduous but that everybody had arrived in good spirits and were completely
healthy.
So, who are we to believe? There
was no sign of any of the passengers who seem to have disappeared of the face
of the planet and left almost no sign of their being aboard the vessel at all,
except for these few photographs. The boat was clean and there was no sign of
any empty water bottles or anything else for that matter. The only possible
sign that anyone had been on the vessel were a few small pieces of oyster
shell.
The Captain did take some
photographs to show that all was perfect for the passengers, but went on to say
that he had no idea where they were now.

The last this reporter saw of the
captain was on the Perihelion quaffing some of the wine left behind by the
passengers.

The spotless poop deck shows no sign of any passengers!

This passenger was snapped by a passer by as she was apparently led
blindfolded towards the boat at departure! Natives stared in disbelief, but did
nothing.
More pictures of the boat under sail and
interior shots will be posted shortly, but meanwhile
